Swami Ishtananda is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He received his monastic training at Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Order in India. After completing his training he was posted to several centers, including the mission center in Shillong, where he served the tribal villages of that area. In 2000 he was sent to the United States to serve as Assistant Minister of the Vedanta Society of So. California. For many years he lived at the center in San Diego, managing the center and giving talks and classes. In 2007 he was assigned to serve as the Head of the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg, FL.
