“The Profoundest Dimension:
The Contemplative Way of Howard Thurman”
with Dr. Loyd Allen, Mercer School of Theology

In this talk, Dr. Allen explores the African American spirituality of mystic Howard Thurman as it is expressed in his personal and social witness.

Dr. Loyd Allen is the Sylvan Hills Professor of Baptist Heritage at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. He also teaches church history and spiritual formation. He has studied spirituality at Fordham University and read Celtic spirituality while serving as visiting lecturer at Cardiff University and South Wales Baptist College during the 2000-2001 academic year. He serves as faculty for the Academy of Spiritual Formation and frequently leads pilgrimages to Ireland and Scotland.
