For Holy Mother — Sri Sarada Devi — no work was menial. All work was to be done with respect. Once she saw one of her women companions carelessly throw a broom to one side after sweeping the courtyard. She protested, “The broom is also a member of this household and should be treated with respect. It takes almost the same amount of time to put it in its proper place as to throw it aside.”
This was Mother. No ceremony, no pretense. Always loving and compassionate. And always showing the ideal of selfless service.
